The Low Show - 02/20/2009
I did something on Friday, 2/20/09, that I have never done before. I drove 3 1/2 hours to see a show. And it was well worth it. It was The Low Show with Sean O'Bryan Smith, Adam Nitti and Bryan Beller and it took place at The Rutledge in Nashville, an intimate live music venue near downtown.
Each of these top bassists played a set of about 10 tunes with their bands. They featured tracks from their latest albums, Sean's Tapestry, Bryan's "Thanks In Advance", and Adam's soon to be released "Liminal". I reviewed Tapestry earlier and will be reviewing the other two albums very soon.
The audience was then treated to a jam of all 3 bassists together. The fun part happened when each one tried to out do the others trading licks. Believe me, there was a lot of impressive playing.
Sean told me that there was a possibility that they might take this show on the road. If that happens I urge everyone to go if they come to a venue near you. Don't miss the opportunity to meet these guys in person and hear some amazing music.

Wordle Word-Cloud
I just read a post in Steve Lawson's blog about creating a word-cloud at wordle and thought I would give it a try. Here is what it came up with:
I think it's pretty cool! I'm going to update the cloud periodically.

For those wanting a jazzier Christmas, this is a great CD to have. I currently have tracks from the CD in rotation.
